五藥養其病」﹔「凡療病、以五毒攻之、以五氣養之、
以五藥療之、以五味節之。凡藥、以酸養骨、以辛養筋、
以鹹養脈、以苦養氣、以甘養肉、以滑養竅」。
中國中草藥書籍很多、但以李時珍的「本草綱目」、被世
界自然科學協會認為是世界大自然科學家之一。
李時珍字東璧、號瀕湖山人、湖北蘄州人。祖、父為醫生
、以個人之力、完成世界的鉅著（本草綱目）、收藥物一
千八百九十二種、附圖一萬一千多張、詳述每種藥物的性
味、主治、用藥法則、產地、形態、採收、炮製、配方等
。附藥方一萬多條。傳至今天以有多國文字翻譯成書。
