Masdevallia (Masdevallia), also known as tricuspid orchid, is an epiphytic orchid. There are short stems without obvious pseudobulbs. The short stems are often clustered and are enclosed in leaf sheaths with a leaf on the top. Leaves erect or nearly erect, fleshy or leathery. The inflorescence originates from the base of the stem. Single flower or several flowers arranged in racemes, sepals with long tails. There are about 340 species in the whole genus, distributed from Mexico to tropical regions of South America.
